Honoring Jared's Wishes - June 15, 2014

June 15, 2014
Good evening, As promised I am trying to update as we know more. I can't thank everyone enough. Jared's school here on Island, Good Hope Country Day and all the staff have been amazing. The VIPD, Detectives, and Denise Marshall leave me speechless by checking in on us. We were asked if it was ok to place a wreath on Jared's locker tomorrow along with a post it note pad for messages to be left. We think that is an amazing idea! Understand that the lockers are outside here and easily accessible. In addition there will be adults onsite to help students with their grief. Tomorrow we will really begin planning the services for each of the 3 locations. This is a hard part for some of you. It was no easy decision to abide by Jared Martin's wishes but I am going to. This will be something out of the "ordinary" for our families. Jared will be cremated and we have a beautiful Soccer Urn in route (or soon to be shipped) from California. Please pray that it will arrive on schedule. Jared asked that we set our family picture along with a specific picture of he, Kameran, and Connor next to him. We will do that where he asked us to here in the house. Jared said he wanted to be wherever we are. So that is what we will do.
Harpeth students please reach out to your parents and Mrs. Tonya Chase as you go through this process. And please help me STOP this issue. If you are having troubles coping with things reach out to people let us help. Believe it or not we have probably been there or close to what you are experiencing.
We have some great plans for the services there and I hope you all participate. This will be celebrating all the good things not the bad. Thanks to the many people in Kingston Springs who are helping to pull this together.
Lastly we will hold a service in Waverly, Illinois for our family and friends in that area. It will be unique to Jared's interest in Illinois.
We love you all and we appreciate EVERYTHING each one of you are doing to surround us with your love.
