Echo of Love

This was written by a lady in our dive club for Jared Martin and read at his service here. Thought I would share.
For Jared

An echo of love

We will see you in the sunrise

when the brilliant colors touch the sky

the blues, the pink, the golden hues

they reach for mountains sung on high

I wonder, dear, what you would have touched,

reached for and climbed out of your valley in Tennessee

and as always the silent , ever ready question "why?"

We will hear you in the birdsong

that greet the day so loudly

that wake the sleeping eyes

from dreams that linger in the sound

I wonder what would your song have said

and as always the snuck in "how?"

We will see you in the trees

that dance as the days goes on

the leaves that catch the sun and

play the wind struck song

We will wonder how you would have danced

And our heads, as always the "what went wrong?"

I look into the deep blue sea

the mysteries unleashed

in each new wave, each new beach,

in each new grain of sand,

I wonder at its original depth

what life you would have had

had you stayed?

And as always the questions "was it me?"

I catch you in the melody

of a classic tune now hit

the bumps, the grinds, the beat, the bass

I have no idea how you would feel about

Josh and Naji's new play list

But as always I hear the same echo

"what did we miss?"

I shake my head to blot them out

these questions that fill our souls

We will hug you in the warmth of day

the sun upon our skin

We now look around the world at play

and miss you as each moment begins

and we will think instead

"Thank God for him!"

I/we may never know the why, the wrong, the right,

the blame, the guilt, the hurt, the loss, the love

but I/we/the world

will always know your name

and for that, Jared,

will never be the same.

So, Dance in the sunrise

Sing in the wind

dive in the sea

play in the waves

laugh in the stars

sleep with the moon

and we...

We down here...

will shine your memory.

Godspeed.
